It is Not Always a Ghost: Reasons Why Your Home is Not Haunted

Commonly, strange activity in a home is often mistaken for paranormal activity. Contrary to popular belief and what the television shows present, paranormal activity is rare. Claims of paranormal activity are repeatedly debunked. I have seen all kinds of paranormal activity over the years and have discovered natural causes for most.

It is incredible how a little ball of light can cause so many heated debates and arguments over whether or not an orb is proof of paranormal activity or not. However, for the most part, orbs in photos and videos are not evidence of a ghost, spirit, or demon. It is more likely it is a piece of dust, a bug, condensation, or lens flare. Could an orb be something? Possibly. However, because there are so many alternative explanations and causes, orbs do not prove a location is haunted.

Experiencing drafts and cold spots in a home could sign a sign of a spirit in the house. However, it could also result from poor insulation, drafty windows, or other factors, especially for an older home. Many natural things can cause cold spots and drafts in a home. Locate the source of the draft and debunk the possibility it is paranormal.

The Feeling of Being Watched

Sometimes the sensation and feeling of an unseen entity watching you can mean a home is haunted. However, this is not always the case. The feeling of being watched is very frightening and is the most commonly reported paranormal activity by clients. However, natural occurrences can cause this feeling. Homes with high EMFs running through the electricity can trigger the feeling of being watched, increasing paranoia and anxiety. Contact an electrician to check the wiring in the home before calling a paranormal group to come in and investigate.

Loud Noises

Loud noises, such as bangs, are often sounds of the house settling or expanding and contracting during extreme temperature changes. Noises can also outside sound loud enough to be faintly heard inside or even appliances making noises. Before claiming noises are paranormal, check for all possible explanations first.

Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Carbon monoxide has many different adverse effects on the body and is not detectable as there is no smell or taste. This dangerous gas causes hypoxia, which can cause hallucinations, anxiety, nausea, and death. Low levels of exposure can sometimes cause feelings of being haunted. Install a carbon monoxide detector to detect traces of this gas. If there is a possibility of carbon monoxide in the air, which may be causing symptoms and feelings of being haunted, call the fire department immediately to inspect the home.

There are many reasons why some people feel their home is haunted. However, there are just many natural causes to debunk the activity. Once the natural causes are taken care of, the sensation of being haunted should disappear. If the paranormal activity does not stop and all-natural options are corrected, then there is a chance the home might be haunted.
